Grant a Wish(list): Holiday Event
Bake Back America created Holiday Event to inspire individuals and communities to bring the joys of the holidays to those in shelters and less fortunate. This effort is so impactful because it connects volunteers and recipients together when giving is so important.
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM STEPS
1. Fill out the volunteer form.
2. MATCHING
• Bake Back America matches volunteer during a holiday with a recipient (shelter, family center, pantry or private family).
• Bake Back America sends volunteer the recipient's contact information.
• Bake Back America confirms day and time, ages and amount of children.
3. PREPARING
• Volunteer prepares a one hour holiday event. See helpful hints.
• Volunteer prepares a holiday specific art project, baked goods or food, and fun and games.
4. COLLECTING
Option 1: Community
• Use social media and text family and friends in your community to donate wishlist items. See helpful hints.
Option 2: Amazon List
• Volunteer creates an Amazon list with wishlist items.
• List can be sent directly to recipient or volunteer.
5. COMMUNICATING
• Bake Back America sets up a group text with recipient and volunteer.
Virtual Session
• Volunteer conducts event through a virtual session.
• Volunteer sends a zoom link 45 minutes to group text or supplied email to make event.
• If there is no response, volunteer calls recipient immediately and if there is no answer, contact Bake Back America.
• Volunteer face times if zoom is not working.
• Volunteer writes"done" on group text once session is completed.
In-Person Session
• Volunteer must wear a mask and social distance.
6. DELIVERING
• Volunteer drop off is non contact.
• Bake Back America supplies volunteer with address, day and time for drop off.
7. SHARING
• Help Bake Back America inspire others.
• Email photos of donation items and the event to bakebackamerica@gmail.com.
• Waiver must be signed to take photos of the recipient.
